BCYMP is hiring!

Help empower K-12 students! Based in Brookings, BCYMP is a nonprofit organization that promotes and facilitates one-on-one mentoring to youth in our community. BCYMP seeks a part-time (10 hr/wk) Office and Administrative Assistant. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently toward shared goals in a fast-paced environment. Hours may be flexed, preferably over 2-3 days per week, as coordinated with the BCYMP Executive Director.  For a full job description, please click on the link above. Mission Statement

The Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program (BCYMP) promotes one-on-one mentoring efforts to youth in the community. The program was developed to ensure all youth have the guidance and support of a caring, stable adult. The mentor relationship is intended to empower youth to reach their full potential as contributing individuals in their communities.

Program Objectives and Requirements:

BCYMP is seeking volunteer mentors who would like to assist youth in the community who would benefit from the involvement and influence of a caring, stable adult. The program will provide training and on-going assistance to our mentors.

Program Objectives:

* Continual recruitment and training of mentors. (See "Mentor Corner" tab for New Training Materials!)
* Strategic matching of mentors with youth.
* Monitor and support the mentor/youth relationship.

Applicant Requirements:

* Mentors will commit to their selected youth and devote at least one hour per week for a minimum of nine months.
* Mentors will complete required training (2 DVDs), submit to a Background Check, and attend InServices when possible.
* Mentors will provide guidance and support to their selected youth.
* Mentors will promote personal and social responsibility to their selected youth.

Becoming A Mentor

Mentoring is a great, proven-effective opportunity to provide a positive and rewarding experience for the community youth. Consider volunteering to spend at least one hour per week making a difference in a young person's life, as well as your own. Involvement may include:

* Outdoor Activities
* Eating Out
* Sporting Events
* Weekly Visits
* Fishing
* Homework
* Community Involvement
* And many other possibilities!
